Book Club BIG Announcement

It’s been a little while since we ended out last book, the Fire of Delayed Answers by Bob Sorge. I so appreciated those discussions and what God did in us with them. Now it’s time to move on and I’m excited we landed on a great new book to cover for the next round of discussions.

We had a lot of back and forth that involved the “regulars” of the book club and we’re going to read, Forgotten God by Francis Chan.

forgotten-bannerI have read a couple of books from Francis Chan as well as listened to some sermons and I greatly appreciate his heart and wisdom on the topics he’s covered. This book delves into the work, ministry, and person of the Holy Spirit and His importance for the Church today.

I don’t think anyone can say they know or understand everything about the Holy Spirit. Many wouldn’t know whether He was working in their lives or not, yet the book of Acts centers on the work of the Holy Spirit in the Apostles and how they changed the world. So what is His place in our lives and churches today?

I’m excited to announce this is our next book and that today I’m going to offer you the chance to win a copy (digital or paperback). Just sign up in the widget below and be sure to head over to Sarah’s place as well for another chance to win. Also, you can come back every day for more entries.

The Timeline.

  1. This Wednesday is the giveaway.
  2. Next Wednesday we’ll announce our winners and send out the prizes.
  3. Two weeks from today, we’ll start into the book.

forgottenIf you have a blog and you’d like to write a response post, you can join us Wednesdays or post throughout the week. Sarah and I will be sharing the link widget (alternating between her place and mine each week). As before, you’ll take a sentence, quote, or idea that inspires you and write something on it. I believe we’ll be in for some good perspectives and thoughtful discussions!

Do you want to join us for this book discussion? What book is currently impacting you?

  1. I already have read the book. I will check it out again to see if I will write with you all. Currently I am reading Truth Matters by 3 authors, but have just finished Yawning at Tigers and Generation Ex-Christian by Drew Dyck. Both were excellent. I would also recommend Prone to Love by Jason Clark.

    • Sounds like some great picks to read, Bill. And we would certainly love for you to join us either some of the time or all of it. Thanks!

  2. Count me in again. 🙂

All I am reading right this moment is my Bible and fiction. The Bible is always impact-full, but the fiction sometimes surprises me in a good way.

    • Thanks Dusty! And I don’t read a lot of fiction, but I thoroughly enjoy it--well, well-written fiction, anyway. 🙂

  3. It’s funny, you’re the second person I’ve heard share about Mr. Chan. I’d love to join in, but I’m so far behind and over my head right now that there’s no possible way. I’ll follow along and hopefully gain from your and the others insight!

    • I know how you feel, Floyd. Feeling a little overwhelmed myself! We’ll enjoy your thoughts and insights on our thoughts and insights. 🙂 Thanks so much!

  4. So excited we’re doing this book!
I don’t own it yet. But regardless if I win or not, I’m in.

I’m thinking if I were to win a copy of this book I’ll gift it to someone and hopefully they will join the book club.

Looking forward to this. God bless.

    • Great suggestion for us, TC. So looking forward to it! Thanks. 🙂
