Moving into the Book Club Future!

I have to say I so enjoyed our last round of discussions for Francis Chan’s, Forgotten God. Diving into the person of the Holy Spirit and how He moves in our lives has affected me deeply. Hearing what you as contributors of both posts and conversation has to add was incredible.

When it came time to pick a new book, I was definitely energized and ready to jump right back in so I suggested to Sarah that we read one I had just finished reading and already wanted to read again. No kidding, I have thought about making it a priority to read this book once a year for the rest of my life.

It’s called, The Cure: What If God Isn’t Who You Think He Is and Neither Are You by John Lynch, Bruce McNicol, and Bill Thrall.

CureWebDon’t mind the snake on the front, it’s a fantastic book! I have literally been recommending this to nearly everyone I know because I feel the format and the truth inside are so powerful.

Normally, I don’t say much about reading the book in conjunction with our discussions (outside of those who want to join in by blogging), but you will get so much more out of these discussions if you read along with us. It’s part allegory/story and part devotion/theology.

It’s engaging and direct while still being comforting and full of truth.

I’m excited to announce this is our next book and that today I’m going to offer you the chance to win a digital copy (either for Kindle or iBooks). Just sign up in the widget below and be sure to head over to Sarah’s place as well for another chance to win. Also, you can come back every day to tweet about it for more entries.

The Timeline.

  1. This Wednesday is the giveaway.
  2. Next Wednesday we’ll announce our winners and give the prizes.
  3. Two weeks from today, we’ll start into the book.

cure2If you have a blog and you’d like to write a response post, you can join us Wednesdays or post throughout the week. Sarah and I will be sharing the link widget (alternating between her place and mine each week). As before, you’ll take a sentence, quote, or idea that inspires you and write something on it. As always, I know we’ll be in for some good perspectives and thoughtful discussions!

Do you want to join us for this book discussion? What book is currently impacting you?

  1. I don’t do digital downloads jason but that’s ok. I am starting 12 weeks next Wednesday of blogging on Creature of the Word by Matt Chandler and 2 others. So I won’t be joining in but will look forward to reading your entries.

  3. Can I cheat and say I just finished reading Forgotten God and it has impacted me?

No, well okay. I am re-reading Faith: A Holy Walk by Oswald Chambers. Great stuff!

    • I don’t think that’s cheating at all! But Oswald Chambers--he always impacts me. Good stuff! Thank you, Dusty.

  4. I’m still trying to get through David And Goliath by Malcolm Gladwell. It’s good, just busy. Thanks for the heads up on this book, Jason. I’ll put that on my ever growing list!

    • 🙂 It’s a short book if that helps! And I haven’t read that particular Gladwell book, but I’ve read a couple others. Fascinating stuff! Thanks Floyd.

  5. Enjoy the rest of your week of fun, and I would love to join the book club and read this book.
