Finding a Simple Hope

Honestly, I’m tired of saying it, but I’m tired. Even still, I feel a sense of hope. It’s simple, which reminded me of the simple posts I used to do regularly, a feature called, Sanctuary, where I posted a picture, a scripture, and a few words.

1 : a place (as a church or a temple) for worship

2 : a place of refuge and protection

Meditating on the beauty He’s created and the power of His words…

Psalm 118:19-21 (VOICE)

Open wide to me the gates of justice
so that I may walk through them
and offer praise and worship to the Eternal.
This is the gate of the Eternal;
the righteous children of God will go through it.
I will praise You because You answered me when I was in trouble.
You have become my salvation.

My praise and everything I have belongs to you.
Fling open the gates!
Show me your great salvation.

“Perseverance is a great element of success. If you only knock long enough and loud enough at the gate, you are sure to wake up somebody.”

–Henry Wordsworth Longfellow

This is my testimony. I feel a simple hope growing. I see the gate of the Eternal before me and I cannot help but praise. His salvation is near.

How about you? What are you thankful for this week?

  1. I’ve said I’m tired so much this week and the weeks leading up to it. What a powerful reminder. We are still here and still able no matter the level of tired. I’m thankful to still be pushing on.

    • Crazy that we can push from a place of rest, but that’s what He calls us to! Thanks Philip.

  2. I’m tired this week, too, Jason.
Thank you for these refreshing words. Blessings!

    • You are so welcome and thank you too, Martha. 🙂

  3. I am frequently tired too. after reading your encouraging post, I can’t help but wonder if we have bought into the lies of the enemy who tells us that we need to be busy all the time. What does God say in Psalm 46:10 say but “be still and know that I am God.”
    Thank you for your words!

    • Oh my, the pressure to be busy at all times is intense! There is so much to do, but without real rest, we can’t accomplish it. Time to “be still and know” just like you said. Thanks so much, Karen.

  4. Well Friday is the Sabbath, so you can rest for the weekend…next week great things are happening!

    • Amen and Amen!

  5. By the way, I loved your posts on Sanctuary. Always thought-provoking.

    • Thank you--really appreciate that, Ed!
