Light Friday Hit List: 11/5/10

Rounding up posts from around the web that challenged, inspired, encouraged, made me laugh, or all of the above. Be sure to check out these favorites and tell them I sent you! This week’s list is a little shorter than usual since I was out of town, but I believe you’ll be blessed by checking these out.

And for even more great posts and favorites, be sure to visit Kevin Martineau’s blog as well.

  • YOU DON’T WANT TO BE AROUND WHEN IT TAKES A SOLO from Dave Barry’s blog. What can I say? I like the potty humor.
  • I Worship by Jay Cookingham (Soulfari). So heartfelt and poetically beautiful. I appreciate Jay taking into a place of worship with him. Excellent!
  • Revelation and Study. Math and Prophecy by Jake Lee (Very Much Later). Being sure of what we believe is not a suggestion, it’s our responsibility. I like how Jake outlines this.
  • Reconciliation (Blog Carnival) by Bridget Chumbley ( This topic led to some really amazing posts, not to mention Bridget’s own post which was amazing. Go check them out!
  • In the Word: Knowing God Demands Obedience by Dusty Rayburn (Reflections on the Life of a Christian). This post is a great reminder and challenged me in a little different way than maybe even Dusty anticipated. That’s okay, I’m special. 🙂

Since it’s election week, I thought maybe this would be an appropriate picture. I take voting and the responsibility to pray for our leaders very seriously, but at the same time, I feel a measure of truth in this sign from

They Need a Bigger Tank

I would very much appreciate your prayers as I minister in Woodward, OK this Sunday morning and Shawnee, OK on Sunday night. There’s a lot of driving in between so I want to be safe and while I’m in both places, I want to proclaim God’s word and grace with power! I pray you have a wonderful weekend too, filled with an abundance of joy! I appreciate you all and it is a privilege to know you, being encouraged by you and offering some encouragement in return.

Do you have a favorite post or link you want to share? Ready to discuss  one of my picks? Everyone excited that the political ads are finally over with? Let’s hear it!

  1. Jason thanks for the list love bro’! I’ll be praying for you!

Father, I pray that your power and love will flow through Jason as he ministers your word. I pray for safe travel and for a safe journey home…I also pray for relational safety, that you will guard his heart and spirit as he is poured out for you. Strengthen him, anoint him and bless him during this time. Be with his family and protect them as well. In Jesus name….AMEN!

    • I truly appreciate your prayers, Jay. It was a very powerful weekend! Thanks you.

  2. That’s a great picture. I guess I don’t have an opinion one way or another on the political ads. I only watch TV one night a week (Thursdays!) so I didn’t really see any. I am glad that all the talk is dying down.

My buddy Mo had a great post today:

One of my favorites of his so far.

    Have a great weekend Jason!

    • Thank you Tony. When I get back home, I’ll check out Mo’s post. Blessings!

  3. Thank you for the mention! I loved reading your take on the post. One of the great things about this community is how each of us can bring something different to the table.

May we continue to grow in our relationship with God together.

    Appreciate you brother!

    • I appreciate you too, Dusty, and echo your prayer. 🙂
