Miracles and Emmanuel

Sunday I was honored to release a message on worship to our home church, and I as I prayed for the time beforehand, I found myself overwhelmed with gratitude and praying these words,

Your presence is a miracle.

When I would say it, I would feel His love and peace surrounding me. Even as I say that, I realize it’s so hard to even describe what His manifest presence feels like, but you know it when you’re there.

I’m just in awe that we get to not only call on but to know Emmanuel, God with us. It’s a miracle! Bought and paid for with precious blood–a price we could never have afforded on our own.

As we lean in to a celebration of His resurrection this Sunday, I hope you’ll join me in marveling that He draws near. He makes known His presence, and it changes our lives.

Surely the righteous will give thanks to Your name;
The upright will dwell in Your presence. –Psalm 140:13

Our uprightness, our righteousness, comes not from our own deeds but through faith in Jesus.

…the righteousness based on faith speaks as follows: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ (that is, to bring Christ down), or ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’ (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).” But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”—that is, the word of faith which we are preaching… –Romans 10:6-8

Trusting and believing in Him is the only way to remain in His presence. You can’t go up to heaven to pull Him down through your service, devotion, or some type of manipulation. You won’t bring Him up either. You can’t. Why?

He’s near. Just breathe that truth in today.

Emmanuel is near and His presence is a miracle. Since the beginning, God’s presence has been the marker upon God’s people. Abraham, Moses, the children of Israel out of Egypt, David, the prophets to Jesus, the apostles, and the church that sprang from Him.

His presence puts the pieces together and holds them there. It leads, comforts, pushes, and encourages.

How blessed is the one whom You choose and bring near to You
To dwell in Your courts.
We will be satisfied with the goodness of Your house,
Your holy temple.  –Psalm 65:4

Satisfied, now that’s a good word. His miracle presence satisfies you. He brings you near as you trust in Jesus. He has chosen you to dwell, to abide.

I’m honestly only writing this because I’m quite literally breathing it in today and I certainly invite you to do the same.

What are your thoughts on this? Are you in awe of His willingness to draw near today?

  1. It is a miracle, Jason, that God chooses to be uniquely present with each of us. I’m more than satisfied with that!
    Blessings, and Happy Easter!

    • It’s a wonderful place to find true satisfaction! He is so good. Thanks so much, Martha.

  2. He can’t help Himself, can He!! He is the Ever Present One! Always giving Himself! And, always enabling us to receive more of Him. So, when we want to surrender our lives back to Him, it is only because we are becoming more like Him. What a blessed life we live when we are ONE with HIM.

    • So true! Amen. Thank you, Elaine. 🙂
