No Salvation without Intimacy

Do you ever marvel at the salvation offered to us through Jesus? I hope so. That’s where I find myself today.

A plan of redemption unfolded and it wasn’t a far-off, unengaged plan. It was in-your-face, where-you-live. He had always identified as Emmanuel, God with us; but this was the ultimate expression of this.

But Jesus could not complete this divinely masterminded by simply walking and living among us. He completely submitted Himself to the will of the Father and did nothing apart from His Father. Without that unity, we wouldn’t have seen the Father’s wisdom, love, compassion, and healing.

Without intimacy there would be no salvation.

You were saved through intimacy and you were saved for intimacy. God with us took on new meaning once again when He came to live within all who believe. He sent the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, to lead and guide us into all truth.

Jesus’ high priestly prayer comes to mind,

“I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one. I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me. Father, I want these whom you have given me to be with me where I am. Then they can see all the glory you gave me because you loved me even before the world began!  –John 17:22-24

Unity. God with us. “I want them to be with me where I am.” Your salvation is not reserved for a day in the future when you shed your mortal body. He has made the way for you to be with Him–fellowship and intimacy.

Our Deliverer, You are Savior
In Your presence, we find our strength
Over everything, our redemption
God with us, You are God with us

“God with us” by All Sons and Daughters

How about you? Do you marvel at salvation? How are you experiencing God with us?

Whispers and Shouts #40.

…a short burst of inspiration of what God is speaking to me, a prayer, a quote, a song, or whatever else.

  1. I do indeed marvel at salvation. At what it cost God to choose to offer His Son, at what Jesus did to offer up His life. Sometimes in the hustle and bustle of “real” life, I forget that my true life lies in eternity because of this tremendous, gracious gift of salvation.

The way that I experience *God with us* is in knowing that no matter what I am going through, God is right there -- before me, behind me, and within me. There is nothing more intimate than living in the same body as the very presence of the Holy Spirit…

    • Amen! Beautifully said, Sharon. Thanks so much.

  2. I can’t stop marveling at Jesus’ gift of salvation extended to each and every one of us. It’s not easy to wrap my mind around (I’m not sure I do), but I do believe He loves us intimately and we, by faith must do the same.
    Blessings, Jason!

    • I know. Grasping His unity with the Father and our being brought into that kind of fellowship and knowing? It’s beyond anything we can comprehend! This is why I marvel… Thank you, Martha. 🙂
