Return of the Book Club!

We finished our last book, Fight Back with Joy by Margaret Feinberg, in early May.

It was a needed read for me (in fact, I may need to read it again right now) and our discussions were extremely wonderful and helpful. After it was over, however, we were not quite sure which direction to go for our next pick.

hiding-placeAfter some discussion, Sarah (my friend and co-facilitator) came up with the idea to read the Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom. This is a classic that I’ve never read before, but I am so excited to start. I’ve known the story and read quotes and pieces from Corrie Ten Boom, but I’m sure this story of courage and hope will be impacting to all of us.

I know some may have read it before and/or own this book and it’s available for very little money so Sarah and I decided for this round we would forgo a giveaway and simply start next week with chapter 1. If you want to join and don’t own the book yet, there are many places you can get it electronically or in paperback for around $5.

That’s it for today! I hope you’ll join us. The inspiration and power of this story is timeless. Standing against evil, suffering with hope, and staying vitally connected to Jesus–it’s timely and beautiful. Even if you’ve read it previously, I am sure you would benefit from reading it again.

What do you say? Are you going to read along with us? Have you read this book? What’s striking about it or Corrie’s story to you?

  1. I don’t know that I’ll write any posts in relation to this book, but have decided to order it today so I can read along with all of you. It is a classic that I’ve meant to read for a long time, too. Blessings, Jason!

    • Awesome! That sounds great, Martha. Looking forward to your insights and thoughts. 🙂

  2. This is a wonderful book -- one that I read many years ago. Corrie is an amazing witness to the power of God and His love in the most terrible circumstances. In my mind, if you can hold on to God in the middle of a concentration camp, then you have truly found Him.

    GOD BLESS!

    • Yes! So true. May we all find the courage to trust Him in life’s most difficult moments. Thanks Sharon!
