Sanctuary: Make Me Hear

Sanctuary–

1 : a place (as a church or a temple) for worship

2 : a place of refuge and protection

Meditating on the beauty He’s created and the power of His words…

Psalm 143:8 (VOICE)

Make me hear of Your faithful love in the morning,
for I trust in You.
Teach me how I should walk,
for I offer my soul up to You.

Turn my focus and tune my ear, my Lord.
Show me how to walk.
You are all that I have and all that I need.

“The men who have done the most for God in this world have been early on their knees. He who fritters away the early morning, its opportunity and freshness, in other pursuits than seeking God will make poor headway seeking Him the rest of the day. If God is not first in our thoughts and efforts in the morning, He will be in the last place the remainder of the day.”

What’s your sanctuary this week? What thought, verse, etc. are you meditating on?

  1. This week I have been impacted by Charles Kingsley poem written in the mid-1800’s which turns my eyes back to the Lord and looking for Him as my focus. The short lines note: “If you want to be miserable think of yourself, what you want, what you like, what respect people ought to pay you and what people think of you”. That inspired me to write about God Winks on Wednesday on my website.

    • That’s great--I’d heard it before but what a reminder! Look forward to reading your post too. Thanks Pam! 🙂

  2. I found myself just studying the picture you shared, crawling into it. Such a very peaceful setting.

I love that quote! I had never heard of it before.

It reminds me of a favorite quote of Martin Luther’s which says,

“I have so much to do that I shall spend the first three hours in prayer.”

Blessings to you this Lord’s Day!

    • It was actually taken on the road we live on at the moment, and I felt that way when I “happened” upon it on my morning prayer walk. The light and the invitation were so real and engaging. I got to meet Him! And I so love that quote. Puts our priorities in perspective! Thanks Karen.

  3. That Wording and the photo are very strongly involved in my daily heart and spirit and soul situation. Focusing on the Lord and enduring to Him many times a day…and many times a night. Thank you so much, Jason. As usual, you grabbed me. Bless you.

    • This photo, more than some, represents a real God moment. Makes me happy when I look at it! Like an invitation to come in to His glory. 🙂 Thanks so much, Joanne! Blessings to you. Praying for you!

      • Thank you. You are a sweet, wonderful guy. Sure would like to see you on the earth, BUT expect, if nothing else, to see you in heaven. 😉
