Silencing the Other Voices

Lighter PathDo you hear Him? The One who loved you first is calling your name.

Seeing a loss of power, Distraction hurries to get your attention. Failure doesn’t miss a beat, angrily shouts and claps his hands to make sure you don’t take a step away.

Obligation slips up next to you and whispers in your ear, “You don’t really have time for this.”

Patiently, the great King continues to call. He doesn’t force you to come, but He just won’t stop. His love won’t quit. His song won’t be dimmed.

Finally, you break free from those other voices, their demands, anger, and influence. The King’s voice envelops you and draws you higher.

You don’t think. You just start running. Running. Running headlong with joy and delight. Nothing else matters in these moments.

I am running, running after You
You’ve become my soul’s delight
I am running, running after You
Here in You, I find my life

Today is a good day. You get to hear His voice as He knocks on the door of your heart, and you get to let go of everything else and run into His arms.

Do you find yourself distracted, preoccupied by failures, over obligated? Don’t pass by as He calls you up today. You’ll find Him to be beautiful.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you love that song as much as I do? Do you hear the call to run after Him?

Whispers and Shouts #41.

…a short burst of inspiration of what God is speaking to me, a prayer, a quote, a song, or whatever else.

  1. I’ve not heard that song, but yes, I love it! Oh my goodness, how often my steps are hounded by Distraction, Failure, Obligation. Guilt often makes an appearance, too. Sometimes it’s hard to hear the still, small voice above all the clamor of life!

However, I do hear the call of the King. And yes, I want to answer.

Forgetting the past, setting aside encumbrances, I press on.

    GOD BLESS!

    • Oh yeah, for sure, guilt shows up too. Phew, so many things to try to take us away from Him, but He is faithful! So faithful to call us and draw us. Thanks so much, Sharon.

  2. What a beautiful song! Like Sharon, I had not heard it, either. I will be sure to share with Danny to see if he would like to learn it for church.
May we all run after the One who calls us to Him.
    Blessings, Jason!

    • Yeah! It’s actually an older song, but I learned it for the first time about a month ago and it’s one that just stays with you. ๐Ÿ™‚ We’ll all run together after Him--no going back! Thanks and blessings to you too, Martha.

  3. Yep. I hear the call daily. And these days I heed His voice more often… and find peace and joy, regardless of the storm and voices.

    • Amen. He’s so good, isn’t He?! Thank you, Floyd. ๐Ÿ™‚
