So Overwhelming

I am consistently amazed at the power of music and worship to reorient and refocus. As I’m on a journey of discovering His delight this year, this song has become one of my unofficial theme songs.

“Overwhelmed,” Big Daddy Weave

It’s so easy to get distracted by what’s not happening, what you don’t have, what you think you need or need to do, where you need to go, and just the busyness of life. Those things constantly threaten to overwhelm.

Feels like a tidal wave looming on the horizon, but then Holy Spirit whispers, “it’s not as inevitable as it seems…”

You will be overwhelmed, but you get a choice because He is a gracious Father. You can look at everything around you and be consumed with that, or you can turn your face to heaven and be overwhelmed by His greatness, love, and mercy.

You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. –Jeremiah 29:13

This idea is actually throughout scripture, but I think sometimes we make it more difficult than it is. You may think you don’t have the time, energy, or whatever else to seek Him with all your heart but you do. He’s not saying you have to cross a desert, swim the ocean, and climb the highest mountain.

He’s waiting for you to turn your heart throughout the day, and as soon as you do, He lets you find Him. He delights in showing up for his kids.

So again, overwhelmed by life, circumstances, needs, wants, or whatever else? Or will you choose to look into His face, consider His ways, and meditate on His faithfulness?

It’s time to get properly overwhelmed.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you have a certain song that’s speaking to you right now? What are you thankful for this week?

Welcome to this week’s Everyday Testimony.

I hope you’ll join me every week for encouragement and a celebration of the goodness of our God.

  1. I choose to be overwhelmed with God’s greatness and love!
    Blessings, Jason!

    • Amen! Thanks Martha. 🙂

  2. Yes! the things we are faced with in life are overwhelming. I know I’ve been there before many times. As a matter of fact, I am there now! Just need to look up, because He draws near! 🙂

    • It’s humbling to know He always gives us a choice. It may not feel like it’s there, but it is and so is He. Praying for a great breakthrough for you, Ed. I know how oppressive situations can feel. Blessings to you in Jesus’ name!
