This world is full of shaking. No matter which side you feel most comfortable with, there are societal changes in nearly every area.
Have you ever ridden a wooden roller coaster? These can be a most jarring and uncomfortable experience. You are shaken from the moment it gets going until the end. Now imagine being on that roller coaster and somehow remaining perfectly still.
Peace. Quietness. Strength.
How is that possible? Some want to amass as much wealth as they can so they won’t feel vulnerable. Some think having power over others is the key. Some think their religious observation or spirituality will steady them. Some believe their righteous indignation and eloquence (or shouting) will stop the shaking.
All these things convey a promise on which each one fails to deliver.
I have set the Lord continually before me; Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. –Psalm 16:8
For the king trusts in the Lord, And through the lovingkindness of the Most High he will not be shaken. –Psalm 21:7
The answer is in His love and intimacy/closeness with Him. That’s our privilege, our responsibility, our hope.
Many people try to stop the world from shaking when the first step is to cease from shaking within yourself. That’s only found in Him. He is the Rock. He is salvation.
I do, in fact, believe you and I are meant to change the world, but it starts here–in trusting His love.
For we trust in our God / and through His unfailing love
We will not be shaken / We will not be shaken / We will not be shaken
“We Will Not Be Shaken” by Bethel Music
Whispers and Shouts #38.
…a short burst of inspiration of what God is speaking to me, a prayer, a quote, a song, or whatever else.
I believe in the value of others in this journey of life and faith, and I want to connect with other people, connect others in real ways, and connect everyone I come across to Him. I have a beautiful wife, Andrea, and four wonderful children (and we are also a foster family). I was formerly lead pastor of Breakthrough Church in Juneau, AK, but now live in Oklahoma working with Family of Faith College in developing a worship pastor degree program. I also run a website development company called Spark2Flame where I help others reach their full potential online.
