Warrior Poet Circle: Running My Course
The road stretches out in front
Formidable and unyielding
Eyes lifted to horizon’s light
I feel the rush of beginning
Heart ready, legs jolted
I ease into my striding
Obstacles unseen unsettle me
But I navigate in narrow timing
The road was made for me
To bend beneath my running
Still the strain of trials wear
But this road still stands inviting
Its challenges remain unmet
Until grace propels my fighting
I linger on–just steps–at times
The strength seems all but fleeting
But soon I feel the second wind
My heart again is pounding
I cannot see the end as yet
And this is not my binding
I hear His voice so calm and sweet
Transfixing my heart to seeking
Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win. –1 Corinthians 9:24
