Warrior Poet Circle (Vol. 22): Difficulties

October 24, 2011 5:00 am discussion, Encouragement, Warrior Poet Circle

A charming guy
Wearing a big smile
With a suit that cost
More than my first car
Tells me if I send
Money to support
God will let me out
Of my troubles; my life
Will change instantly
Wrongs will be right
If I would just do

A plain man,
Brimming with passion
Reveals a heart of love
That doesn’t quit
Tells me if I follow Him,
There’s a cross
God will meet me
In my troubles; restoration
Is mine, but in His time
Presence overwhelms
If I choose to be

Time and money
Is easier than surrender
But getting out of pain
Shortchanges destiny
Instead, I ask God to open
My eyes, to see Him–
His ways, His life, His truth–
In the throes of uncertainty.
And amid these difficulties
I see, I found change

20110425-122442.jpgWelcome to the 22nd edition of the Warrior Poet Circle. Time to pull up a seat, gather around the fire, and pour out our verses.

I’ve meditated a lot on this recently, but difficulties and challenges don’t have to be distractions. We are meant to keep our eyes on Jesus and other methods of alleviating pain fall short. He’s so good to lead us perfectly if we just follow.

If you have a poem to add, please add it to the widget and be sure to visit the others who are a part too. Thank you!

For next time (Monday, November 7), let’s use Tenderhearted as our prompt.

Check out these conversations!

    Great Poem…

Reminds me of the Rich young ruler…

He couldn’t let go of his possessions to follow Jesus fully…

and how in his difficulties, it would be hard to change with possessions….only with a sin bared cross…

Flannery O’Connor said it: We’re told faith is a warm electric blanket, when faith really is the cross.

    Good poem, Jason.

  3. Praying for my eyes to remain open to Him every day.

Good stuff. “I found change.” I can really relate to your heart speaking to the TV evangelists and their doctrine of buying God’s favor. How much damage has satan done to the church through those people?

Great heart, always appreciate reading yours.

And I’m not saying God couldn’t tell someone to give and then God would move on their behalf, but when that comes through another person, it at least has the appearance of manipulation. I don’t know. Just makes me sad that people might get disillusioned because in their desperation they “tried God” and it didn’t work.

Lord, work it all out in Jesus’ name. I know You will.

      Thanks Floyd. :)

  5. Amen Jason!

It is not easy to always see God amidst our difficulties but I know that He is always there!

It’s a matter of faith. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil for You are with me… Thanks Kevin.

  8. Good stuff, man. Too many guys in nice suits telling lies. Not enough people telling the Truth. May we be the latter.
