Warrior Poet Circle (Vol. 9): Midnight

Nothing darker than midnight
The tipping point, decision time
What’s it going to be?
Mourn the remaining night hours?
Or find joy that morning comes closer?

Nothing darker than midnight
The turning point, choice moments
When needed rest evades
Like a prison convict fleeing his captors
Like the wounded soul rejecting cold memories

Nothing darker than midnight
The grappling point, senses on notice
And unless a light shines
The hope remains a formless vapor
The peace persists as a fairy tale notion

Charge forward through your valley, brother!
Look upward through your weeping, sister!

The brightness does shine at hopeless hours
And forces the night to relax it’s grip
On fearful minds and worn out hearts
The song of surrender makes it so
The hymn of rightful praise shakes it loose
And we see the prison was designed for praise

20110425-122442.jpgWelcome to the 9th edition of the Warrior Poet Circle. Time to pull up a seat, gather around the fire, and pour out our verses.

This time our theme is Midnight and my inspiration was drawn from Acts 16, the story of Paul and Silas.

If you have a contribution today, add it below. Can’t wait to read what you’ve written.

For next time (Monday, May 9), we’ll use Prayer as our prompt.

Check out these conversations!

A picture of the world without the light. And I like the “grappling point” — the the old and new engage, and we know the new will utlimately win and dawn will come — but it still seems as dark as before. Nice one, Jason.

“The brightness does shine at hopeless hours”

It shines brightest when we are in a position to recognize He alone is our Hope…our salvation and protection comes from Him.
