Weekend Look Back

Weekend Look Back

August 29, 2010 4:39 am discussion, impact

Here’s  another look at the conversation we’ve shared this week on Impact. With each link is a brief synopsis and one great comment (among the many) so you can sample the discussion. Be sure to tell me if one of these posts was your favorite and why in the comments!

It would be nice if it weren’t true, but it is. We convince ourselves all the time that God couldn’t possibly want the broken, messed up parts of ourselves. It isolates us from our help, but that’s not God’s plan.

One Great Comment: If we could only wrap our minds around the thought that God wants our broken stuff — really want it — we would have more joy. That’s what I want. More joy. Real kind in my heart, not just my head. Wonderful post mixed with humanity and spiritual truths, Jason! –Faith Barista Bonnie

Part of the One Word blog carnival hosted by Bridget Chumbley, we want so desperately to be (or at least be seen) as ‘good’ parents, but is that what it’s really all about? What does God have to say about all this? I don’t mind telling you, “You’re a bad parent…and so am I.”

One Great Comment: The wonder of God is His ability to work all things for good …for those who love Him. He takes all the mistakes and makes them part of the recipe. I’m not negating the mistakes. I do my best to minimize them. But in the end, I have to trust God to use all of it, in my life and in the lives of our children. —Anne Lang Bundy

We had a giveaway and here I got to announce the winner. I also take the opportunity to share a little more about The Hole in Our Gospel by Richard Stearns and do my best to convince everyone to join in the discussions with us. Go check it out and see if I convince you yet. :)

One Great Comment: What keeps me? My own selfishness of wanting to not be bothered or to give the time required. Sad for sure. I have the best news in the world and tend to want to keep it to myself. –Bill (Cycleguy)

Honestly, the title of this post was what I was thinking when I started out, which is what got me thinking about all my excuses. This is a short post, but I believe it does something powerful inside us to meet up our lack with His provision.

One Great Comment: my excuse – “what do I have to add that hasn’t already been said?” – if that were a valid excuse, all we’d have to do is put a Bible in someone’s hands and wish them well. The community is God’s orchestra – we all have an instrument to wield. –herbhalstead

A weekly roundup of my favorites posts from across the blogosphere. Check out the great blogs and bloggers represented and have a little fun along the way!

One Great Comment: Thanks for the kind words, mate. Not like the soul kind of mate, but you know, the British kind. Also, thanks for writing awesome things all the time. I really do enjoy your site immensely. –Tyler

I never want to miss an opportunity to say how much I appreciate everyone who takes the time to read these thoughts and carry on a conversation with me. I know my life is being transformed by it and I pray yours is touched as well. Thank you!

For those still hanging back, there’s still time, go and be part of the conversation or revisit and respond to what others said. Did you have a favorite post here this week? Why did you respond to it so much?
