You Are More

I realize tomorrow is Independence Day where we celebrate our freedom in the U.S., but in light of yesterday’s post on being unlovable, I wanted to share some freedom of a different sort.

It’s a song called, “You are More” by Tenth Avenue North. The chorus says,

You are more than the choices that you’ve made,
You are more than the sum of your past mistakes,
You are more than the problems you create,
You’ve been remade.

There’s freedom in the love of Jesus and in embracing the identity you have a son and daughter. So many times, we want to identify ourselves by what we do or don’t do (good or bad). If we’ll remember to keep our eyes on the author and finisher of our faith, the other parts will eventually come into alignment.

In doing that, we will endure. We will know joy. And we’ll be free.

Happy 4th of July to everyone celebrating. Praying you experience and know the greatest freedom there ever was or will be.

Whispers and Shouts #31.

…a short burst of inspiration of what God is speaking to me, a prayer, a quote, a song, or whatever else.

  1. Happy Fourth of July to you Jason and yes it is wonderful to know our spiritual fourth can be celebrated every day. Praising Him for the freedom that did not require fireworks but the spilling of blood on an old rugged cross.

    • Yes! Thanks so much, Betty. 🙂

  2. Wise words, Jason, and a needed reminder. Not sure we could ever be reminded too much. Happy fourth to you and yours.

    • I know I need the reminders ALL the time. 🙂 Thanks Floyd.

  3. I went through a period of time when I made some pretty stupid mistakes in my life. Mistakes that took me away from the Lord, mistakes that hurt people. So, I really loved the line in that song that promises I am more than those wayward days. I have been re-made by the Creator, who constantly works something new in me.

    THAT is indeed freedom!!

    • Amen. Glad it ministered to you as it did me, Sharon. Thank you!
