Your Love Never Fails

I’m humbled by the love of God.

There are so many times I’ve been in a pit–sometimes of my own doing and sometimes through no fault of my own. His love didn’t and wouldn’t leave me there. He reached for me and pulled me up.

You will pull me out of the net which they have secretly laid for me,
For You are my strength. –Psalm 31:4

I’m a little late to appreciating this song from Jesus Culture, but a few months ago, I really listened to the lyrics and it’s kind of become an anthem to me. God has done what I could never do through His love. He crossed the lines and scaled the heights. He combed the depths and brought me out. That’s what this song is about. Besides all that, He won’t stop working every single thing to my good.

You stay the same through the ages
Your love never changes
There may be pain in the night
But joy comes in the morning
And when the oceans rage
I don’t have to be afraid
Because I know that You love me
And Your love never fails

What song or quote captures God’s love in a special way for you? What’s an experience you’ve had with it?

Whispers and Shouts #25.

…a short burst of inspiration of what God is speaking to me, a prayer, a quote, a song, or whatever else.

  1. “Thank You for loving me…” Pretty simple little quote. I’ve been saying it since I was a child. It was one of my first prayers I remember saying and meaning. Funny, after all the learning and study, it is the one prayer that still escapes my heart. Simple is good.

    • Beautiful, Floyd. So right--simplicity only looks easy, but it takes a lot of grace to maintain that childlike wonder and awe at what He’s done for us. Thanks so much, friend.

  2. It was the love of God through the Old Testement that won me. As seeking lost person I bought an NIV bible and started where you start any book, from the beginning. Even though I understood little I was overwhelmed by His love for the Jews. Failing all the time yet He still provided, still loved them. I seen myself in those pages looking for that kind of love and I was just like those Jews, in need. My heart was tough due a hurtful growing up, it was how I survived and honest my perception was there must be something I can do to survive hell, I survived hell here on earth. The Word will tear down tough walls, it took about four years of reading the Bible knowing I was going to hell of which I had no fear of really. Oh but I wanted that love the Word talks about, that peace, someone to trust that would not let me down. God kept knocking at my heart and finally my heart was soft enough and I simply let Him come and reside in me. I have never been disappointed, never wished I had believed that committement to me of eternal love. I would be writing all day to just give you the tip of how God has showed His love to me. It easy to give yourself to someone you know will love you through all the failures and for eternity. Who had man pen down a whole book that speaks of that love from beginning to end. Thank for a post that stirred my heart as you can see from what I wrote. Blessings

God did all that foretelling of His Son coming to this earth for us, why because He loves us. He set the foundation for love to hang on an old rugged cross for me. There it was after all the reading I had to accept He did it for me.

There are too many songs to list that speak of His love that come to my mind.

    • Betty, thank you for sharing this. Powerful testimony and so beautiful. Of all the motivators that drive people to God, it’s His love that sustains. If we don’t experience it, we get sidetracked so easily. I love how as you kept searching, He kept drawing you closer. Thank you again.

  3. We sing this song in our worship and I am blown away each time. There are so many right now that “ring my bell” it is hard to give just one. 10,000 Reasons is one. White Flag. You Are by Colton Dixon is another. Man, don’t get me started. 🙂

    • I know what you mean, I have a lot of songs that speak to me so deeply. Those are some good ones you listed. Thanks Bill.

  4. His Grace was Greater by the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir would be one near the top.

It talks about the prodigal son’s return to grace. I took a prodigal journey that led into some very dark places in my own life. God met me there and His grace was truly greater than all my sin.

    • I don’t know that one--have to look it up. So thankful that He meets us where we are. Thanks so much, Dusty.

  5. I’ve only heard the Newsboys version of this song. but it speaks powerfully to me, too--especially the part about the oceans raging. I’ve had my share of times when I had to remember the words of Corrie Ten Boom: “There is no pit so deep, that God’s love is not deeper still.”

    • What a great quote and so true. Thanks Melissa.

  6. I love that song! Especially the part that says “there may be pain in the night, but joy comes in the morning.” It literally bring tears to my eyes, as it does now, just writing the words down. That songs just gives me hope and encouragement beyond measure.
